AQHA Customer Service Rep Kayla Randall
A big hello from me to you! As an AQHA customer service representative, I am asked hundreds of questions each day. It is a privilege and a joy to be able to provide the answers AQHA members need to assist them in their daily workings with their American Quarter Horses. I truly love what I do and the many horsemen and women I interact with on a daily basis. I am one of 22 members of the AQHA Customer Service Department. A constantly ringing phone is commonplace around here. We receive about 45,000 phone calls each month from customers just like you who have questions about AQHA or their American Quarter Horses. (That’s right, I said 45,000!)
I study and learn our rules and policies regarding everything from registration and transfer to online services and more. Each month, we will visit one of these rules, policies or a general topic together.
I hope you will respond to each At Your Service post by using the comment section below. Please feel free to suggest other AQHA-related topics, rules and subjects that have boggled your mind. I will greatly enjoy getting to know all of you.
Below is our first installment, regarding deadlines and dates for important AQHA business.
As always, at your service…

When Do You Need That By?
December is here. We all have visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads – or is that visions of dollar signs? Fall and winter are the seasons of the All American Quarter Horse Congress and the AQHA World Championship Show, stallion breeding reports, Incentive Fund nominations and mass foal registrations. And let us not forget our holiday shopping somewhere in the mix. We all know our shopping deadline – December or bust, right?
But do we know our AQHA deadlines?
Foal Registrations
Foal registrations have several deadlines. Many people call AQHA thinking they are not allowed to register a horse after a certain age. This is not the case. AQHA will register your horse; the only thing that will change is the fee. AQHA will not accept a postmark on a foal registration. The application must be in AQHA offices on or before the deadline.
- Birth to 7 months of age $25
- Day after seven month birth day to 12-month birth day $50
- Day after 12-month birth day to 24-month birth day $125
- Day after 24-month birth day to 36-month birth day $300
- Day after 36-month birth day to 48-month birth day $500
- Day after 48-month birth day $1,000
Stallion Breeding Reports
Stallion breeding reports are due each breeding season by November 30. AQHA will accept a postmark. Beginning January 1, 2009, the stallion breeding report fees are as follows:
- Stallion filing fee $25
- Fee per mare bred $5
- Late fee $30
- Stallion Incentive Fund nominations carry the same deadline as stallion breeding reports. AQHA will also accept a postmark.
- Foal Incentive Fund nominations must be received in the office by the age deadline and follow the same age deadline as registration.
Now you have a quick reference for a few commonly needed deadlines here AQHA business. So, print this off, stick it on your fridge or barn door and get crackin’ on some of the other deadlines in your life, like that wish list your horse left you for Christmas!

I’ve been waiting on papers on a foal from Stephanie & Kevin Everson (Everson Stables) in Ironwood, Michigan since Late Summer 08. I’ve contacted her several times, and she’s very busy and never seems to resovle what needs to be resolved with AQHA. The Sire is Larks Tuff Enough and I don’t know the registered name of the dam, but do know she’s appendix grand-daughter? of Secretariat. Please help…is she on the suspension list for some reason? Thank you. Theresa Anderson

Theresa,
If you are unable to retreive the appropriate forms to register your foal, you may print them from the following link. You need a Registration Application and a Transfer Report if you did not own the mare when she foaled.
http://www.aqha.com/forms
If you print and complete these forms to the best of your ability, AQHA will enter the registration and lock your fees in for the foal. We will write the appropriate people for the signatures needed.
Please feel free to contact AQHA Customer Service at 806-376-4811 Monday-Friday 8-5 CST and speak with one of our helpful Customer Service Representatives.
