hello again
well at this time I’m trying to figure out which judges at which shows without having to travel to timbuktu. hmmmmm, should i pay the dressage comp fee for my aqha? i havent even recieved a responce, but this page keeps poping up when i search any info

hello
i was wondering where the replys to all of the comments are? i would like to read the follow up from the AQHA. i understand that this is new for the AQHA, but as far as i know to date…the judges hold cards for usdf and usef and that seems to b good enough for all of the other breed organizations.
why did the AQHA want the shows/judges to be members also?
if the judges had to b members of every breed shown infront of them it would not b cost effective for them to judge.
i am glad the the aqha wants to award points for dressage, dont get me wrong, but maybe the AQHA should consider the way it is being done by the other organizations as a model for what works.
is it possible to have dressage classes avaliable at the aqha shows with the same scores being valid with the usdf’s programs as well?
would greatly appreciate a responce.
this has been long awaited lets not c it die on the vine.:)a new show year will begin for 2012. if this is managed well then i’m sure you would c an increase in memberships from people who have aqha horses that show in dressage already.

OK, I was just currios about if AQHA is accepting al levels of Dressage. I was also wondering how the points would be broken dowen from your score. How do you know which USDF shows are registerd qharter horse?

We used to show our Appaloosa in dressage. The ApHC had a “sister” club that you would belong to and they kept track of points. Horse had to be registered, rider had to be member and you just had to present your show form to show manager for authorization and send in.

AQHA has made it too difficult. I’m not quite sure you could find a show to go to where only 1 judge/1 ring/was judging all levels; when entering a dressage show you never know who will be judging what levels and what ring until you get your times.

Just asking that a form be signed by show manager along with score/placing/# entries should be enough. Maybe charge a $5-10 office fee for processing each form?? The current system doesn’t work IMO.

Agreed completely with the two above posters (Michelle and Tina). Why don’t ALL USEF/USDF scores count for AQHA points? There is no logical reason, other than the AQHA wanting to leverage our desire as competitors to push more people (i.e. the judges) to become paying members. – by whatever means necessary, even if it means WE pay for their memberships! But that is so slimy and dishonest, that I am certain the AQHA would never do such a thing. I am sure it is just an innocent oversight.

I agree with you 100%. If AQHA isn’t going to have a Dressage Class at their shows, they should not require USDF and USEF to be AQHA Members? It really does not make any since.

Another comment I have heard from one Olympic level judge is that he does not want to be a member of AQHA because he is afraid it will make him appear breed biased. I think they need to dispense with the requirement for judges to be members. It is too much of an entry barrier for this new program.

What I have done is approached show management and offered to handle the paperwork and pay the $50 fee. Luckily, with over 65 judges now members, I have not had to pay membership fees for judges. What hasn’t been advertised anywhere is the show manager ALSO has to be a member. I figured it was cheaper to pay the $50 fee and a few memberships than the travel expenses it would cost for me to go out of town for a show that is already sanctioned. I hope the program is very successful!

It has been impossible to find shows in my area that will spend for everyone to become members. I ride my QH in 1st level and would more than love to get points. I don’t believe the other breeds require so much from the show committiees. It would also really help if there was a listing of dressage shows that offer AQHA. I so hope this doesn’t die on the vine, dressage on Quarter Horses is a delight!!! A rider from Minn/ND.

It would be helpful if AQHA had an “information packet” for show organizers. That way the the shows could apply for and obtain AQHA approval and attract participants from riders seeking AQHA points.

This would be beneficial to the show organizers (more participants) and AQHA riders seeking those dressage points!!

I am having a hard time getting the recognized shows to apply for an AQHA approval or get them to even know about them….what can we do to get this up and running. Also 2 shows I am planning to attned have judges who are members but the “shows” are not….help!
