Barrel Racing “Don’ts”

Sharon Camarillo runs down a list of common problems in the barrel-racing arena.

Poor selection of a start point- Failure to keep the horse straight
- Dropping shoulders
- Dropping rib cage
- Approaching the barrel in the wrong lead
- Riding one rein in between the barrels
- Hands too high or low
- Balance issues with horse or rider
- Legs too far forward or back
- Inappropriate equipment

Awesome! I love to see this information posted for everyone to view. Barrel racing is my fancy, but, love my horses and learning new things is ultimately my pastime. I would love to get “America’s Horse Daily”.

The web site is fantastic but including advice and tips from professionals like Sharon Camarillo is invaluable. More education and information from our core elite horsemen and horsewomen is exactly what our youth need. Thank you for this smart idea and effort.
