Show us a great way to re-use old boots, and you’ll get a chance at a new pair of Justin boots!
Out with the old, in with the new!
AQHA’s Facebook page features an exciting contest every month with a BIG prize up for grabs. This month, we want to see your most creative uses for old cowboy boots.
So, show us how you recycle your cowboy boots that have become too small or too beat up to continue wearing.
Rules:
To enter the contest, e-mail to contests@aqha.org:
- A photo of your clever use of an old cowboy boot.
- A short description of how you made it.
- Your mailing address.
- Put “Boot Contest” in the e-mail subject line.
Entries must be submitted via e-mail by April 30, 2010, and be sure to follow all rules!
We’ll pick our winner in early May, and that lucky creative person will win a pair of Justin AQHA Remuda mahogany worn saddle boots featuring the J-FLEX Flexible Comfort System. (You pick the size and men’s or women’s style.)
AQHA Corporate Partner Justin Boots features a wide variety of styles in its Justin AQHA Lifestyle Collection. Check them out today!

I actually made a birdhouse once using an old boot. I used a metal can with one end cut out, turned it upside down and placed it into the upper part of the boot. I then drilled a 1 1/2″ hole into the leather and can and then drilled a 1/4″ small hole for the perch (dowel rod) and constructed a roof out of 1/4″ wood which I attached to the boot using eye hooks and wire. I attached an old metal cloths hanger to either side of the upper and used that to hang it in the tree. Birds loved it! Sorry no pictures.

I made a purse out of the the shaft of the boot because the sole was soo worn & they didn’t fit me anymore. It works best with boots that have a taller shaft. Icut if off at about 10inches & just sewed the bottom up. I then punched 6 or so holes through the seem & threaded sum pretty leather scraps I had from previous projects to make fringe. then I added a thin strap. I got the idea from the Boot Scoot & Boogie bags from American West. It sounds kinda funny but it looks really cool. I’m not sure how to add pics on here… otherwise i would post one.

I used the upper leather to make a beer can holder. Problem is my mates try and pinch it from me. Will get a photo and post it in. All Saddle Solutions

I place a flower vase in old boots, add a bouquet of silk wild flowers, and set them around my home. My Dads old boots make for a really special memory, as do my childrens from when they were toddlers.

I wear my boots till they are falling apart at all places. They are worn in the mud if they are really bad. I work and use my boots for what they were intended for. Working horses, tending the farm, and enjoying life.

I use the old boots here for flower pots here! They hold water well and keep their shape well! And really cute to boot!!! (LOL). MMy good friend Jason took the shaft of the boot and made his revolver holder out of his old boots! And he uses the pull up straps as the belt holder! Just thought I would share my family boot fun! Thankyou, Lisa Heintz

I wish I knew where the pictures were… A friend of mine used boots as centerpieces for their wedding reception. They are both very western people and it turned out really neat.
