Hey! You Takin’ My Picture?

December 17, 2008

With horses, sometimes photo shoots don’t end up how we planned.

I love taking closeup photos of the ponies. Their eyes, especially, are just the best. So, when the snow and icy temperatures came, and the horses’ manes were decorated with icicles, I figured it’d be a good chance to take some pretty wintery photos. Or, at least, it’d be a chance to see how well I could maneuver my camera wearing gloves (’cause they weren’t coming off!)

See? The tendrils of ice make Diego’s forelock look almost lacy. Pretty!

But then … when you’re photographing babies … you start getting shots like this:

And this:

No  cameras were harmed (or eaten) in the making of this post.

But the lens did get a little foggy…

Happy holidays, and happy riding!

My daughter is a photographer and recently took some pictures of my two 5-year old Thoroughbred rescue horses. The pictures are hilarious – noses in the camera, which distorts the size of there nose to be incredibly big to the total size of their head. I laughed out loud for a long time and still smile everytime I see the pictures. My daughter even framed one for me to set out for all to see. Pictures are an amazing blessing in so many ways.
