Live at the 2010 Texas Classic
May 25, 2010
Check in with what’s going on at the 2010 Texas Classic in Fort Worth!
The Texas Quarter Horse Association’s 2010 Texas Classic in Fort Worth is bustling with activity.
American Quarter Horse competitors descended on the Will Rogers Memorial Center over the weekend, entering in AQHA, as well as National Snaffle Bit, National Reined Cow Horse, South East Reined Cow Horse and National Cutting Horse association classes.
May 23 brought the culmination of cow horse events in the John Justin Arena presented by Sea Ridge Farms. Top honors went to Todd Crawford of Blanchard, Oklahoma, for placing first in the NRCHA open hackamore with Playguns Courage, owned by the Circle Y Ranch of Aubrey, Texas.
The weekend belonged to the future with youth classes in the Watt Arena presented by Robin Frid Show Horses. The arena was alive with full classes in trail, western riding, horsemanship, showmanship, halter and hunter under saddle. Hundreds of youth entries competed in the AQHA triple-judged classes.
“The dirt was good and the cattle were great!” said Guy Woods with a smile. Guy brought five horses for EE Ranches of Whitesboro, Texas, and took home five checks as the big winner of the day in the Coliseum – presented by Jewett Performance Horses – for the first of three consecutive cutting days. There was an anticipated 170 cutting entries in the AQHA-NCHA cutting classes May 23 and 24.
Early mornings and late nights are all in a day’s work at the Texas Classic, but thanks to the event’s corporate sponsors, the competitors are well cared for.
For example, each morning, competitors can jump-start their day with freshly brewed coffee and donuts sponsored by Adequan, the newest addition to the corporate partner list for the Texas Classic. Adequan is also the title sponsor for the AQHA Adequan Select World Championship Show in September in Amarillo.
The Texas Classic thanks all its sponsors for their continued support in maintaining the Texas Classic as the largest Quarter Horse show in the lone-star state of Texas.
The show continues through May 30, so stay tuned!
