On April 19, 2010, my palomino gelding, 12 yrs old, died and showed signs of intestinal problems with red stuff oosing from mouth, nose & abdominal area. The neighbor's horse had it and was cured with veterinarians help. Horses only have wire fence between them and could touch each other's noses.

I was not aware of giving preventative shots to Buddy, now deceased.

We live in rural area about 30 miles SE of Salem. We have another older horse. Buddy had what we thought was "founder" but see this disease produces Laminitis.

Should this problem be reported to anyone?
