this reminded me of the day I came out of a class with a face splitting grin and a 7th place ribbon! We'd beaten someone! which was pretty darn good since I was on a mare that I didn't know the prior training of, that I'd only been riding for a month or so. It had everyone else laughing (including the person I beat) because I was so over the moon about it.... The next season with that mare people would groan when we pulled on the grounds.... cause we were usually #1 in our classes! But they realized I just loved to have fun and that was part of why we were winning.... that 7th place ribbon is still one of my most treasured ribbons though!

Keep the stories coming they are great

Thanks, Chris. It's been a long haul, but I feel like I'm on solid ground these days. That is, until someone comes and pulls the rug out from under my feet.

Have a great Turkey Day!!

Thanks, Gypsie! I've learned a lot since I started down the Quarter Horse road. It's been a hoot-and-a-half, and good for character building;) Glad you're enjoying the articles!

Pamela- I applaud your grit in sticking with it- there are so many people that if they're not 100% everytime they just simply give up!
And if there's one person out there that understands...it's definately me! I wanted to show my filly in Reining, but she had no handle, that's when I found the "International Performance Horse Association" or IPHDA. What they do is focus on slowing things down, getting the basics under control and if your horse competed hunter/jumper this may be something that would help you TONS!!! There are professional trainers that are always available to give advice. You can log on and check it out at www.iphda.com or call (903)815-4738 and they can get you in touch with a reputable trainer in your area.
My husband and I loved your article, it's good to hear someone else's goofs (maybe he can laugh a bit at yours instead of at me all the time!)Good luck and hope to read about the next show success soon!
