Paige Farr of Sarasota, Florida, rides Colonel Rey Lynx CT during amateur working cow horse February 7, 2010.

That’s why she picked 64 for her number in the Gulf Coast Circuit cattle classes January 7 at Triple J Ranch.

Paige, who lives five miles down the road from the Triple J, got started in working cow horse about two years ago. She rides some with the Florida Reined Cow Horse Association and is still a novice amateur in working cow horse, but she spent about 15 years riding in western pleasure and has been riding horses since she was 5.

After Paige’s novice amateur run, she talked it over with her trainer, Sandy Johnson, who advised her to be more aggressive on the cattle.

“Like Bozo Rogers talked about in the Journal?” Paige said.

“Yes,” Sandy said.

I promise I didn’t prompt either of them to talk about my story while I was standing there, but it was really nice to hear that someone liked the piece.

And if you haven’t read AQHA Professional Horseman Bozo Rogers’ tips for working cow horse, order a copy of the December Journal. Paige and Sandy say it’s worth reading.
