Two Bits shares information about his reindeer buddy and gives a great holiday recipe for his animal friends.

Two Bits gears up for the holidays
Hey, kids!
Christmas is almost here, and I don’t know about you, but I am ex-cit-ed.
I was talking to an old friend on the phone the other day — you might know him – Donner. Yes, the Donner who pulls Santa’s sleigh. We were arguing about who is the better sleigh puller, those reindeer he runs around with or a good group of American Quarter Horses. Of course, Donner thinks he is right and I’m wrong, but I still maintain that us Quarter Horses could pull a sleigh way better. Here are some fast facts about American Quarter Horses compared to good ol’ reindeer.
American Quarter Horses
Eat: 15 pounds of food a day
Food: Hay, grasses, oats, feed, apples and carrots for snacks
Weigh: 1,200-1,500 pounds
Width: 2 feet
Quarter Horses come in 17 different colors and do lots of stuff, including roping, reining, ranching, trail riding and jumping just to name a few. American Quarter Horses live all over the world, with the largest populations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Reindeer
Eat: 12 pounds of food a day
Food: grass, tinder and lichen
Weigh: 200-700 pounds
Width: 6 feet (including antler span)
Reindeer are usually an earthy brown color with furry antlers. Their coats are actually waterproof. Their antlers shed once a year. They live mostly in the arctic tundra areas of the world.
So, Donner and I had a little back and forth, and then I had to concede that he got me on the flying thing. I don’t know too many American Quarter Horses that can fly. So maybe this one time, I have to admit I’m wrong. Santa’s flying reindeer probably make one awesome sleigh-pulling crew.
I know on Christmas Eve when Donner is doing his job, I’m not only going to leave Santa some goodies, I’m going to make Donner and his buddies a goody, too.
If you would like to make them a treat as well, I have it on good authority that they really like reindeer food. I am including the recipe for you, so you can show Donner and his boys some appreciation this Christmas.
Reindeer Food:
1 cup oats
½ cup all bran
2 Tbsp colored sugar
Mix and serve! The colored sugar shines in the moonlight like glitter and attracts the reindeer, and the oats, bran and sugar are their favorite!
Happy holidays, all!
